Koa

Meet Koa

Koa is our first Wattle & Kind companion: a soft koala plush in early development for Australian family life.

Koa koala-inspired plush companion by Wattle & Kind
Koa is our first companion concept, designed for softer screen-free family moments.

Koa is being shaped to support less screen time, gentler bedtime routines, quiet play, and everyday family transitions — with parents deciding when and how it is used.

A soft, screen-free companion for stories, quiet moments, and family-guided bedtime routines

Designed by Wattle & Kind for Australian families, Koa is being developed as a huggable koala plush for screen-free stories, bedtime wind-downs, and curious little conversations. Parents remain in charge of when Koa is used and how its interactions fit into family life.

Koa is not ready to buy yet. This page explains the product direction and invites early families to follow the pilot journey.

What Koa is being designed for

  • Storytime companion: gentle storytelling, imaginative prompts, and warm bedtime routines.
  • A little more breathing room: quiet play, car rides, waiting moments, and everyday transitions while parents remain nearby and in control.
  • Screen-free interaction: meaningful audio-led moments without asking children to use another screen.
  • Guided by parents: conservative content boundaries, clear activation, and simple parent control direction.

Planned voice and interaction features

  • Gentle conversation direction: the voice interaction is being explored around simple, age-aware responses within clear family boundaries. This is not a medical, therapy, or diagnostic feature.
  • Parent-editable conversation boundaries: Koa is being designed with conservative child-safety boundaries and a sensitive-topic library that parents may be able to review and edit as part of the final parent-control experience.
  • Rights-cleared classic stories: future content plans include classic children's stories provided through licensed, public-domain, or otherwise rights-cleared sources where appropriate.

At a glance

  • Activation: press-to-talk style interaction direction, with clear activation rather than always-on listening.
  • Voice: gentle conversation direction that may respond to simple emotional cues.
  • Boundaries: conservative child-safety defaults and parent-editable sensitive-topic settings.
  • Stories: future rights-cleared classic children's story content where appropriate.
  • Status: early development only; final feature scope may change before any pilot batch.

What Koa is not

  • Not a babysitter: Koa is not designed to replace adult care, supervision, or parent connection.

  • Not an always-listening smart speaker: Koa is being planned around clear, intentional activation rather than constant background listening.

  • Not an open-ended unsupervised chatbot: Koa is being shaped around gentle boundaries, parent-aware settings, and child-friendly interaction.

Important development note

Koa is currently in early development. Final appearance, materials, age marking, certification status, app features, price, and delivery timing may change before any pilot batch.

Koa is not a babysitter, a medical device, a therapy product, a mental-health tool, or an unsupervised AI friend. It is being shaped as a gentle companion used with parent guidance.
