For Australian family life

Koa koala-inspired plush companion

Less screen time. Gentler bedtimes. A little more breathing room for parents.

Koa is a soft, screen-free companion designed for stories, quiet moments, and bedtime routines — with parents guiding when and how it is used.

1

Screen-Free Stories

Stories, imagination, and gentle conversation without another screen.

2

Calmer Bedtime Moments

Designed for bedtime wind-downs, quiet play, and everyday family transitions.

3

Parent-Aware Boundaries

Being shaped around conservative child-safety settings and simple parent control.

4

No Always-On Listening

Planned around press-to-talk style interaction, not a device that listens all the time.

Everyday family routines

Why parents are helping shape Koa

Families are helping us shape less screen pressure, calmer bedtime routines, clear AI boundaries, and a soft companion children can hug.

Our first companion

A Companion Children Can Hug

Koa starts as a soft koala plush first, with technology shaped around comfort rather than another gadget. The current direction uses an internal voice module and whole-toy Type-C charging, alongside clear activation and parent-aware boundaries.

Founding families

Help shape real family routines

We are inviting early families to help shape Koa’s stories, bedtime routines, parent controls, privacy expectations, and everyday family use before the first pilot batch.

Our story

Technology should feel kind in family life.

At Wattle & Kind, we are building companion technology with warmth, care and a distinctly Australian sense of place.

Our vision is simple: thoughtful companions that support families through different stages of childhood and beyond, without turning everyday family life into another screen-first experience.

Koa is our first companion. Koa is currently in development as an early childhood concept, designed to represent calm presence, curiosity and connection. Future Wattle & Kind companions will continue to grow from the same principle: technology should feel kind, understandable and built around family trust.

We are still in the early stages. There are no availability, certification or shipping claims yet. For now, Wattle & Kind is inviting early supporters to follow the journey and join the waitlist.

Join for early updates, not sales pressure.

  • Koa pilot progress, product-development notes, and early family feedback invitations.
  • First looks at story direction, parent controls, charging decisions, and privacy expectations.
  • No orders, deposits, payment requests, or purchase commitment at this stage.

We will keep updates occasional and development-focused while Koa is still being shaped.

Parent trust / Privacy & Safety

Clear promises, careful claims.

Koa is still in development, so we are keeping our safety, privacy, and product language transparent while the first pilot direction is shaped with families.

Not always listening

Koa is being planned around clear activation, such as press-to-talk style interaction, rather than always-on background listening.

Parent-aware controls

We are exploring simple setup, gentle boundaries, quiet-time controls, and child-friendly interaction that parents can understand.

Plain-language privacy

The final data model is not confirmed yet. Before any pilot batch, parents should understand what data is involved, how it is used, and what controls are available.

Internal electronics and care direction

Koa is currently planned around an internal voice module direction. Charging, servicing, battery safety, and care instructions are still being confirmed before any pilot batch.

Age and safety still to confirm

The early direction is around 3+ or 4+, but final age marking, materials, battery design, and compliance checks still need confirmation.

Not a therapy or medical product

Koa is not being presented as a medical, therapy, developmental, or guaranteed learning product. It is a gentle family companion direction.

Wattle & Kind is validating parent interest, sample quality, safety expectations, and privacy language before any pilot batch or finished-product claims.

Planned feature direction

Planned features, clearly explained.

Koa is still in early development. These features describe the current product direction and may change before any pilot batch.

1

Screen-Free Stories

A calm story and imagination direction for everyday family moments without adding another screen.

2

Clear Press-to-Talk Direction

Koa is being planned around clear activation, so interaction does not feel hidden or always-on.

3

Parent-Aware Boundaries

Parent controls, sensitive-topic boundaries, and privacy language remain central to the first version.

4

Emotion-Aware Conversation

Koa is being explored to respond gently to simple emotional cues. It is not a therapy, medical, or diagnostic feature.

5

Parent-Editable Boundaries

A sensitive-topic library and conversation boundaries are being explored so parents can help shape what feels appropriate.

6

Rights-Cleared Stories

Future story content is planned around licensed, public-domain, or otherwise rights-cleared classic children's stories.

Final feature scope, settings, safety details, age guidance, and availability still need to be confirmed before any pilot batch.

Clear boundaries

What Koa is not.

  • Not a babysitter or replacement for adult supervision.
  • Not a medical, therapy, diagnostic, mental-health, or emergency-support product.
  • Not an always-listening smart speaker or an open-ended unsupervised chatbot.
  • Not available for purchase, preorder, or deposit yet.

Parent trust

Questions families ask first.

Koa is still in early development. These answers explain the direction we are building towards, especially around calm routines, parent control, privacy, and screen-free play.

Does Koa replace a screen?

No. Koa is being designed for screen-free moments: stories, imagination, gentle conversation, bedtime wind-downs, quiet play, car rides, and family transitions.

Will parents stay in control?

Yes. Parent-aware settings, gentle boundaries, and child-friendly interaction are core to the product direction. We want Koa to support family routines, not take over from parents.

Is Koa always listening?

No. Koa is planned around press-to-talk style interaction, not always-on listening. We are intentionally designing around privacy, comfort, and clear family expectations.

What kind of moments is Koa for?

Koa is intended for calm everyday situations: winding down before bed, quiet play, waiting rooms, car rides, and moments when children need a softer companion while parents remain nearby and in control.

Is Koa ready to buy now?

Not yet. Koa is our first companion and is still being shaped with early families before the first pilot batch. Joining the waitlist helps us share updates and invite families into testing when ready.

The first of many

Koa is our first companion — and only the beginning.

Wattle & Kind is being built as a wider companion-technology brand. Koa starts the journey for young children and family routines, while future companions may support more ages, more personalities, and more everyday moments of care.
